Boundries in teen dating

01 Jan

We all have boundaries in our lives, so teens need to get accustomed to them.

As adults, we can’t just haul off and whack someone over the head if we don’t like them.

Adolescence is a time of establishing independence and finding new limits.

If what they wear breaks the school’s dress code, they are stepping over the school’s boundaries.

Likewise, when a teen is allowed to drive the car, perhaps they are told they must be home by dark, not have any other teens in the car, and they must not drive any further than a certain distance away from home.

Mom, in her infinite wisdom said, “You are really too young to have a boyfriend.

You should have lots of boys as friends at your age.” The little girl sighed and said, “I know, but when I am 14, I will be old enough to date.” Somewhat surprised by the comment, the mother asked her daughter what you do on a date. Have you ever had a discussion with your teen about the purpose of dating or what you do on a date?
